HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY EARLY

I have a lot to share today as I have been working real hard this past week to get some projects done and make some special valentines for hubby and kids.

First I will share with you the Thank You card I made to send out last week.  I got the idea from someone else (not sure if SCS or just out surfing on web sites) and really liked the idea of adding DP to the inside of envelope. (Click on any picture to enlarge)

Next comes some Kits I ordered from Andrea Walford that I have had for a few months and wanted to get them done so I can get some more. LOL  The first one is from the Christmas Jingle Simply Scrappin Kit.  Don't you just love the designs and colors?  Each kit includes everything you need except adhesives and scissors. And don't you just love the box to put cards in? (I added the ribbon extra) NOTE: This is a copyrighted design and cannot be CASEd/copied.

Next is Love Sparkles Simply Scrappin Kit which includes a clear box to store cards in. 

The kit includes supplies for 12 cards and ribbon for clear box. I added some embellishments that were not included (Happy Valentine stamp, small heart stamp, rhinestone brads (pink) and butterfly stamp) I forgot to put silver brads on the pink card in the top row (middle card)-should be in top left corner-3 brads) NOTE: This is a copyrighted design and cannot be CASEd/copied.

The last kit is an album using Love Sparkles Simply Scrappin Kit.  Andrea & Sophia did a superb job in designing this album.  The kit came with a DVD with video and also in package is a print out of directions with photos. This would be a great idea for a class or for a beginner scrapper.  The nice thing about these kits is that you can add more embellishment or use a different scrappin kit.

Okay those are my three projects now I will share with you the items I made for granddaughters for Valentine's Day. Dick & I took Kellie, Kirsten, & Jenna to Flint today to have lunch with Michelle. It is their favorite place-chinese buffet. We had a great time and a lot of laughing. I gave everyone their gifts when we finished and Dick took a lot of pictures. These are the gifts I made for Kirsten & Jenna. The sweet box was from a kit SU sold a few years back. It was called boxes & Tags. The milk carton is the newest die cut and I reallly, really like it.  So many things you can use it for.  I made my first paper clip with DP.

Now the last thing I want to share is a few photos of our luncheon.

Today Was A Busy Day

I have been real busy today completing a few projects that I have been wanting to do but kept procrasting.  It seems good to be back at the craft table again.  The first thing I completed (started on Monday) is the CD tin that holds calendar, note pad, and beaded pencil.  I also made a cute bookmarker to go with the set. The idea came from Andrea Walford for the tin. I added the small ribbon loop to the tin as I had a hard time opening it.  I also didn't have any small pens or leaded pens. The DP is Cottage Wall, one of my favs. The tin is 5x5 in size . The next photo is the inside.

This was my first attempt at making beaded pencils. It was so easy but the only problem doing it to a pencil is when it comes time to sharpen the pencil you will have to remove some of the beaded tape. LOL

Next I did the valentine boxes that SU is offering in the Occasions Mini. There is 30 in each kit (Pink or Blue). Jenna spent Tues. afternoon with grandpa and me so I let her help make these.  She actual did everything except put on adhesive and loop the sides together. She sure loves doing crafts just like her older sister.  Now I will have to make her a craft box for when she comes over.

Kirsten's 8th Birthday Party and More Cards

Kirsten had her 8th birthday party this past Sunday at the Holiday Lanes (bowling). I believe 8 of her friends showed up for one game of bowling and a party in separate room.  It was a lot of fun watching the young girls bowl (I think it was the first time for most of them). Kirsten's sister, Jenna, who is 4 1/2 even bowled.  Kirsten got one strike and one spare (that I witnessed) and ended up with a score of 79 (I think) and Jenna had 67.  Of course the bumper guards were up so no one had a gutter ball.  There is nothing better than being around your grandchildren when you are going through some bad emotional times. Of course Jenna has to mimic big sister!  This is the tote bag that Aunt Michelle got her and I added some embellishments.  She told her mom that if anyone wanted to know what she wanted to say scrapbooking stuff!  She ended up with 3 big kits that included everything (even album).  She was a very happy girl.

Now on to one of the cards I finished early this month.  My niece, Caly, got married on Jan 11th and I wanted to make something different for a card.  I don't know if it is different but it is something I haven't tried before. (click photo to enlargen)

This ribbon and pearl string are from my daughter, Kellie's wedding candles. I have been saving this for almost 10 yrs. Caly's color for her wedding was shades of purple.  Design paper is Cottage Wall from SU. I used the Scor-Pal to score lines on all sides.

I made this card for my brother-in-law's birthday earlier this month. 

I love this stamp set (can't remember the name right now) and of course almost everyone loves the "Top Note" die cut.  Used Soft Suede cardstock base, ink, and ribbon. Very Vanilla and Going Gray paper.

I got the idea for the inside of card from my sister, Kathleen. She used the negative part of the top note die cut for the inside and then layered the message using the ticket punch.

JUST FOR MY SISTERS

My sister sent me a message and asked when I was going to update my blog.  Well, I think that is what she meant.  Could be she was talking about the new SU blog for demonstrators.  Oh well, I will do both and cover my butt.  I haven't done much since Christmas so I decided to share some of the cards I made last year (2009).

I made this as a gift for my sister-in-law. Her dog and Sheena are really close and whenever we go visiting, we tell Sheena that we are going to see Abby and she gets all excited.  I guess Abby does the same thing when she is told that Sheena is coming.  They are like sisters.  The day these pictures were taken Dick & I were dogsitting.  Abby loves to sit on the back of the chair or couch.  This was my first attempt at making something like this and I had a lot of fun.  The frame is made from the cardboard enclosed with our designer paper packets.  I used the eyelet border punch and the brown felt ribbon from last year. Also used the Felt Flowers and blue button bouquet with light blue embossing thread. The odd board numbers are covered with craft ink. Next is a sympathy card...

I really like my coloring on this one.  I have been practicing on blending colors and this is the results.  I still have more to learn but do enjoy it.  My biggest problem right now is trying to keep my fingers/hand from shaking.  Some days it is better than others.

This was my first try at making the box.  My best friend hosted a workshop and this was her hostess gift.  Don't you just hate it when you have to give up something you have made?  Since it went to my BFF I can visit anytime and check it out. LOL  I love these colors (blue is my #1 color) together and I used the marker to color the pretties flowers.  Okay that is enough for tonight.

Update on Dick's eye surgery: He went to doctor last Thursday and his gas bubble has dissolved and the week before he had a stitch removed. Everything appears to be going as expected. His eyesight in the surgery eye is clearer than the left eye but since his eye is always dialated the vision is somewhat blurred. I hope that makes sense.  From what we have been told eventually his sight will be even clearer in that eye.  His next appointment is Feb 2nd so hopefully by then a new script will be written for his glasses.

Kirsten's 8th birthday is week from Monday and she is having a bowling party at the Holiday Lanes on Sat. with some of her friends.  Grandpa & I will be there to root her on.   The following weekend I plan to have both girls over to make valentine cards for their school mates.

As it is almost 11:30 pm, I think I better get out of here and hit the sack.  Have big day planned for tomorrow.  Keep smiling.

More Christmas Projects Completed

Yesterday I completed two Christmas projects and my husband's birthday card.  I haven't done this much in quite a while.  It feels good to be productive once again.  I have therapy M-W-F this week and the next two weeks Tu-W-Th. Then I go back to M-W-F until Jan. 16th.  I am making progress but also getting tired of going.  I do about 50 solid minutes of exercies including riding stationary bike.  Dick will be going on the 21st for eye surgery so got a lot to do before then as he will be restricted from doing anything like bending or picking!

Enough of that, lets talk crafts...

I love using the Big Shot die cuts.  Here I used the small bear and used watercolor crayons. I used the stamp found in the section of stamps $10 and under; green corduary brads, green striped wide ribbon and the scallop punch that looks lacy. The base of the card is Very Vanilla.  This one is original for a change!

Now my wall hangings:

I didn't have any place to put this last night so I put it on the tree that Dick had just brought up from the basement.  This morning I finally decided to hang it on the wall in the dining room next to closet.  It is very tall as you can see. (our tree in 6.5 ft).  The one thing I don't like about this chipboard is that the glitter gets all over.  I tried to spray some stuff on it...I wonder if I should use hair spray?  Not sure if  I have any.

Here are pictures of two letters up close.  I used felt snowflakes and clear gems, burgandy ribbon and silver grommets.

I also put a bow at the bottom of last letter.

Now the next project-----

I cased part of this (scalloped squares with glittered letters) but I added the double bow at the top and the silver decorative brads.  This was a lot of fun to make and I will make more with other letters.  Below is a close up of the bow.

Today was a lot warmer than yesterday and Friday so looking forward to tomorrow to see what is in store for me.  The laundry is done including the folding and the floors are swept. I think I will wrap our granddaughters gifts so that will not be looming over my head.  I will also attempt to decorate the tree and put up other decorations around the house.  This Christmas we will have all the kids and grandkids so it will be nice.  I am not going to spend a lot of time cooking so I can spend more time with them.  Right now I am planning on ham for dinner with the trimmings.  Well, have a good evening and keep smiling. COOKIE MAKING AT GRANDMA'S HOUSE

Hi everybody,

Well, here it is almost midnight and I should be in bed but I just had to share with you what I did today!

I had to babysit my 4 yr. old granddaughter, Jenna, today while Grandpa and her Mom went Xmas shopping. Of course that means I missed out on shopping this year BooHoo!  So now I can say that I am all ready for the holidays.  Got shopping done, cards made and ready to take to mailbox tomorrow, and today Jenna & I made cookies.  Now you have to understand that in my family everyone loves COOKIES especially homemade decorated ones.  We made 2 dozens but that won't last until this weekend so I will be doing a lot more.  I also wanted to make some holiday bread and freeze it for when I need something to serve at the last moment.  Dick and I still have one big project left and I hope to have that  done by the weekend and that is wrapping the gifts.

Okay that is enough chitter chatter, now for my photos.

I forgot to take pictures while she was all covered with flour, frosting, and sprinkles.  Jenna helped me roll out the dough, pushed down on the cookie cutters, frosted about 10 cookies,(I did the rest) and put the decorations on all of them except for the 4 you see in the picture that have cinnamon dots on them.  Now you know why it took 3 hours!!!

isn't she a cutie?  When we got everything cleaned up we pulled out her homework project-(making a wreath) for show & tell and also to be hung in the hallway at school.  We didn't have enough time to finish it and I forgot to take picture of what we had done.  She had a styrofoam plate with the middle cut out from her teacher with instructions to do whatever she wanted.  So we dug into my supplies and came up with some real wide lace with ruffles and I stapled that around the outside edge (before that I ran some narrow green ribbon and rose ribbon through the eyelets) and then tied a big bow for the bottom.  We punched out some paper ornaments with my punch and put hole in top of ornament. Then I cut some elastic ribbon so mommy could help her put them on the ornaments and hang onto the lace wreath. Darn, I wish we would have had more time to finish so I could have gotten a picture.  I will have to ask her mom to do it and send it to me.

WELL, IT IS FINALLY WINTER!

Sorry, I have been missing for awile...  I have been working on some special Xmas cards (which I won't be able to share with you until after the 25th) and a few other things that I will share with you today.

This is the Thanksgiving card I made for Dick.  I cased it from someone while I was visiting their blog and forgot to write down the name.  If I come across it I will give her credit.

These two pictures give a side/back view and the other side/front view.  It is a mini file folder that can be used for 3x3 cards or in my case, used for a memo pad holder next to my computer.  These are a lot of fun to make and I will make more with card/envelope to sell next summer at the campground.  There is a craft show once a month with usually 20-30 tables set up.

Isn't this cute?  I found the video on UTUBE (I think!) to make just the plain basket.  Then I made my own embellishment on side and used ribbon with DP for the handle. The pillow box die is used to make the sides of basket (3) and then added strips to bottom.  Then you add 2 circles (Using the glass cutter); one on bottom and one on the inside.  You can make this for any season/holiday.  There is a lot of room inside to put some goodies.

Well, I guess that is all for now.  I will be putting addresses on envelopes tomorrow so I can mail my Christmas cards on Monday or Tuesday.

Dick will find out on Wednesday when his eye surgery will be.  His right eye has cateract and some membrane on the back of eye and he will have in implant done.  I tell you it seems like we can't have one year go by without something happening.  I am scheduled for more physical therapy (this is for my back) so it looks like I will be doing it until Jan 16th.  That will be a total of 24 visits just for my back. My goal is to be able to take long walks like I used to.  I can see a difference with 3 wks of therapy but still have a long ways to go.

I am glad my sister is home now (she was in hospital for over a week) and look forward to seeing her accomplishments on her blog.  My other sister also has a blog and needless to say her work is also one of a kind.  I am so lucky to have two sisters so talented with paper crafts and the youngest sister is known for her cooking and quilting/sewing.
